Electrooptic Modulators in KTiOPO4 for the Short Visible Wavelength Region

Abstract

Single-mode channel waveguides at short visible wavelengths have been fabricated by Rb <-» K ion exchange in KTiOPO 4 . The channel waveguides show a typical attenuation of 1.5 dB/cm and negligible light-induced refractive index changes. The electrooptic properties as well as de-drift phenomena have been investigated by using integrated electrooptic phase-and Mach-Zehnderinterferometer modulators.
