Abstract

Electrophoresis is the premier method of separation and analysis of proteins and polynucleotides. Its importance can be readily appreciated by looking through the pages of journals devoted to biochemistry and molecular biology. Here one finds a large number of photographs of electrophoretic separations, whereas chromatograms are less common.And yet in the literature of analytical chemistry it is rare to come upon articles in which electrophoresis is used.
