Electrospun grape seed polyphenols/gelatin composite fibers contained silver nanoparticles as biomaterials

Abstract: GSP/gelatin composite nanofiber membranes containing silver nanoparticles were successfully fabricated as a novel biomaterial by electrospinning. The silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized with the grape seed polyphenols (GSP) as reducing agent in aqueous solution of gelatin, and then the GSP/gelatin/AgNPs mixed solution was electrospun into nanofibers at 55 o C. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirmed that the composite fibers were uniform and the average fiber diameter ranged between 150 nm a… Show more

“…In addition to the general properties of a condensed polyphenol, the grape seed polyphenol (GSP) has some unique properties, such as antimicrobial activity, anti-inflammatory activity, and reducing blood sugar and fat. Han et al [69] fabricated GSP/gelatin composite nanofibers containing Ag-NPs by electrospinning as a novel biomaterial. The process is shown in Figure 11.…”

“…GT is a complex, heterogeneous, and anionic carbohydrate with prominent structural stability to heat, acidity, and aging. 5,27,28 Tragacanthin, galacturonic acid part of tragacanth which is water soluble and is a neutral, branched with a high molecular weight which gives highly viscous solutions, and bassorin, the other part of tragacanth, is a complex of methoxylated acids that are insoluble in water and swells to form a gel or viscous solution. 8,9 GT has been used as an emulsifier, hydrogel membranes, and pharmaceutical for burn wound healing applications.…”
