Electrostatic nonlinear supersolitons in dusty plasmas

Abstract: Using the Sagdeev pseudopotential method, the properties of negative dust-acoustic supersolitons are investigated in a plasma comprising cold negative dust and Boltzmann and Cairns non-thermal positive ions. Supersolitons have electric field profiles with additional wiggles on traditional bipolar structures, and their existence requires pseudopotentials having two sub-wells before a root is reached. Once the existence ranges are determined in parameter space, typical pseudopotential, supersoliton and electric … Show more

“…Recently, Paul & Bandyopadhyay [17] investigated the arbitrary amplitude DIA solitary structures in an e-p-i-d plasma consisting of nonthermal electrons and isothermal positrons and reported the existence of double layers of both polarities, coexistence of solitary waves of both polarities and most importantly the existence of positive potential supersolitons [18,19,20,21,22,23]. The present paper is an extension of the recently published paper of Paul & Bandyopadhyay [17] in the following directions.…”

“…These structures have been reported on both ion-acoustic (Ghosh & Sekar Iyengar 2014; Olivier, Maharaj & Bharuthram 2015; Singh & Lakhina 2015; Dutta & Sahu 2016; Paul & Bandyopadhyay 2016; Varghese & Ghosh 2016) and dust-acoustic (Hellberg et al. 2013; Verheest 2014) time scales. In addition, Verheest, Lakhina & Hellberg (2014) showed that supersolitons cannot form in a plasma consisting of two species only.…”

“…Dubinov and Kolotkov (2012a,b) have recently introduced a new type of solitary structure which they termed as 'supersoliton'. After this work several authors (Dubinov and Kolotkov 2012c;Das et al 2012a;Verheest et al 2013a,b,c;Hellberg et al 2013;Maharaj et al 2013;Verheest 2014;Verheest et al 2014;Lakhina et al 2014;Singh and Lakhina 2015;Verheest and Hellberg 2015;Paul and Bandyopadhyay 2016) reported the existence of supersolitons in different plasma systems. Although, a number of investigations (Eslami et al 2011;Jain and Mishra 2013a,b; Ghosh and Banerjee 2014) on IA solitary structures in different e-p-i plasma has been carried out but the existence of IA supersolitons in those plasma systems has not been reported.…”
