Elucidating the microscopic and computational techniques to study the structure and pathology of SARS‐CoVs

Abstract: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronaviruses (SARS-CoVs), causative of major outbreaks in the past two decades, has claimed many lives all over the world. The virus effectively spreads through saliva aerosols or nasal discharge from an infected person. Currently, no specific vaccines or treatments exist for coronavirus; however, several attempts are being made to develop possible treatments. Hence, it is important to study the viral structure and life cycle to understand its functionality, activity, and inf… Show more

“…It means that "C1, C2 and C3" achieved similar scale reconstruction, these reconstructions give geometrical details of the internal sizes (estimated) for the "CQ control" applied (Figure 9). It was designed an algorithm according to be a support for medical doctors, who are dealing with COVID 19 treatment in Peruvian hospitals (Haeberle et al, 2016;Goldsmith & Miller, 2009;Bhalla et al, 2020;Duan et al, 2020;İnandıklıoğlu & Akkoc, 2020;Kaniyala-Melanthota et al, 2020). At the time that was finished this research, the world and Perú are losing many lives, even though some countries are crossing this epidemic.…”

“…UV-C light of 200-230 nm wavelength can be used to limit virus transmission in indoor spaces ( Garcia et al, 2020 ). Various imaging and molecular diagnostic tools like atomic-force microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, electron microscopy, and other computational biology tools can be used to study SARS-CoV-2 efficiently and treat Covid-19 ( Kaniyala Melanthota et al, 2020 ).…”

“…The name SARS-CoV-2 covers the evolutionary history of coronavirus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Similar to other coronaviruses (CoVs), SARS-CoV-2 particles are spherical (when imaged at the atomic level using cryogenic electron microscopy) and have spike proteins projecting from their surface (Kaniyala Melanthota et al 2020 ). These spikes allow the virus to fuse with the host cell membrane after binding to human cells; then, they undergo structural changes (Xu et al 2020a ).…”
