Embedded Mesoporous Silica Silver Nanoparticles as potential antibacterial agent againstMultidrug-Resistant Bacteria

Abstract: Many workers have paid more attention to eco-friendly mesoporous silica silver nanoparticles featuring smaller particle sizes to enhance their remarkable antimicrobial properties. A simple chemical method was developed for synthesize high valence silver nanoparticles immobilized on the mesoporoussilica nanomaterial, which showed strong antibacterial activity. Chemical reduction of silver ion has been regarded in the present work, and a reducing agent , such as hydrazine was used to promote the reduction of the… Show more

“…Biological molecules contain active chemical groups that reduce silver salts (steroid, sapogenin, carbohydrate, and flavonoid molecules). Other chemical groups in plant extracts linked to the nanostructure of silver particles, such as carboxyl and amine, provide stability to solutions of silver particles [50]. The use of Acalypha hispida leaf extract resulted in the formation of silver nanoparticles with spherical shapes with dimensions (20-50 nm) [51] (Figure 1).…”

“…The silica gels are suitable for this application due to their high porosity, inertness chemical, large accessible surface area and transparency [12] , also Silica have also been used as cell markers, catalytic substrates, absorbents, and matrix fillers [13] . Fe2O3/SiO2, nano-composites have interesting properties and applications in catalysis, sensing and magnetism [14][15] . The conventional materials change their thermal, optical, magnetic properties in nano form corresponding to surface area increased and quantum effect.…”

“…Gramnegative bacteria have become an important factor in wound infection because of their antimicrobial resistance which is one of the three greatest threats to human health [11] and also possesses high therapeutic challenges [12]. The overuse or misuse of antimicrobial agents has led to the development of multi-drug resistant bacteria [13]. Different researches have been done around the world that have identified Proteus mirabilis, , Klebsiella pneumoniae Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii and Escherichia coli as the most widespread multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria [14].…”
