Embracing the International

Abstract

With every new year, an opportunity presents itself for a point of reflection, a reflection of how far we have come and where we plan to go. International CHRIE (ICHRIE) derives its name from being not only the embodiment of an international collaboration of hotel, restaurant, and institutional education councils but also one with a focus on its members' intrinsic all-inclusive and diverse values. When one considers itself an international organization, there is an ample amount of reason to reflect upon how to effectively utilize diversity as a strategic advantage for the organization to increase productivity and creativity as well as strengthen and grow the organization with a vision that is based on a diversified insight.As hospitality and tourism professionals, one would be better enabled to do greater service to their community if they can induce stronger communication among members from around the globe. A diverse organization can also bring advantages such as increased adaptability by expanding their organization's range of viewpoints. New recognitions for the importance of diversity in the workplace have brought new awareness in the workplace and have set new standards, which are now expected to be regularly embodied by any organization.Within ICHRIE, there are currently six federations that encompass members from all around the world. AsiaPacific CHRIE Federation (APacCHRIE); Southeast, Central & South American Federation (SECSA); EuroCHRIE Federation; North East North American Federation (NENA); Central Federation; and the West Federation act as siblings under ICHRIE, all sharing the challenges, experiences, and like-minded visions of advancing the future of education for hospitality and tourism industry professionals. One of the core values of ICHRIE is inclusiveness. As members of our various CHRIEs, we should take this anniversary to remember that although we each have our own federation, we all unite under ICHRIE.This year we all have been faced with a world that yearns for an opportunity for reunification. What better time to revisit the steps, that we as an international organization, are taking to progress in our strive for unison than now! ICHRIE prides itself in being a global and multicultural community of hospitality and tourism professionals. As we look to share knowledge and experiences among ourselves, it's easy to discover that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths.
