The exploration for novel nano-sensors has enhanced significantly representing an incredible alternative for the development, speedy, and inexpensive bio-sensing strategy. Due to their low detection volumes, reduction of detection time, high specificity and user-friendly applicability, nano-bio sensors have raised the interest of the scientific community. Nanomaterials are now being used to develop biosensors thatexhibit superior sensitivity and uniqueness with applicability in research investigations, food contamination detection, detection of potential probiotic bacteria, etc. Detection of food contamination is of major significance and concern in areas like healthcare, agriculture, beverage, and fermentation industries. Distinctive biosensing technologies have already been developed for instant monitoring of microbes, food contaminants depending upon the application of nanomaterial. A wide range of nanomaterials, for example, gold nanostructured materials, carbon Copper and silicon nanotubes, GeO 2 /SiO 2 matrix, nanoparticles, nanowires, TiO 2 nanowire, nano-electrode, and nanostructured material arrays are performing an essential role in the bio-sensing application in food pathogen detection and probiotic bacteria detection.Nanosensors merges the principles of information technology and molecular biology proves essential in facilitating immediate detection of foodborne pathogens, contaminants, hence reducing the health risk and medical costs related to foodborne illness.This chapter aims to encompass the types of emerging nanosensors based on different detection technology, their commercial applications, recent advancement in food contamination detection and their future prospects.

The diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs) remain challenging due to the lack of convenient assessment techniques and to the resistance to conventional antimicrobial therapy, showing the need for novel approaches to address such problems. In this regard, nanotechnology has a strong potential for both the diagnosis and therapy of UTIs via controlled delivery of antimicrobials upon stable, effective and sustained drug release. On one side, nanoscience allowed the production of various nanomaterial-based evaluation tools as precise, effective, and rapid procedures for the identification of UTIs. On the other side, nanotechnology brought tremendous breakthroughs for the treatment of UTIs based on the use of metallic nanoparticles (NPs) for instance, owing to the antimicrobial properties of metals, or of surface-tailored nanocarriers, allowing to overcome multidrug-resistance and prevent biofilm formation via targeted drug delivery to desired sites of action and preventing the development of cytotoxic processes in healthy cells. The goal of the current study is therefore to present the newest developments for the diagnosis and treatment of UTIs based on nanotechnology procedures in relation to the currently available techniques.

Photovoltaic energy manufacturing has developed at an extraordinary rate since the last decade which globally has reached 225 giga watts by 2018 and is anticipated to augment to 920 giga watts by 2022 and 5000 giga watts by 2050. Still now the abundant quantity of produced solid waste which comes from the end of life panels are not calculated yet but in future it can be a challenging aspect in terms of photovoltaic energy. Harmful waste from end of life solar panels poses a global ecological menace and is capable of creating 300 times more toxic waste than nuclear plants. This review represents an overview of global scenario on different types of solar panels production with their composition, applications, solid waste generation, loss of precious metals (rare earth metals, metals), utilization of metals in different industries and different toxicological effects on the environment and the requirement of recycling of used solar panels. The recycling of these solar panels after life can be an economic alternative source of natural resources.
