Based on stakeholder theory and upper echelons theory, we examine whether GEO affects GSCI via environmental corporate strategy, and the moderating role of environmental leadership. We test the research hypotheses using multi‐sourced survey data from 264 Chinese firms. The results reveal that environmental… Show more

“…To accurately serve the target market and increase market share, manufacturers need to strengthen their cooperation with customers, actively fulfill corporate social responsibilities, and reduce the generation of carbon waste (Awan, Kraslawski, & Huiskonen, 2018; Awan & Sroufe, 2020; Centobelli et al, 2022; Vachon & Klassen, 2008). In addition, manufacturers that monitor and report low‐carbon activities may receive sponsorship from customers; thus, introducing advanced technologies such as blockchain, helping digital transformation, and more effectively managing carbon emissions in the process (Centobelli et al, 2022; Lee, 2012; Wang et al, 2022). Finally, frequent information exchange in CLCC enables manufacturers and customers to reach a consensus on environmental improvements (Laguir et al, 2021; Wang & Feng, 2022).…”

“…This approach promotes a holistic perspective that enables the attainment of sustainable performance and avoids the need for “either-or” choices. Considering the diverse aspects of sustainable performance, managers should not solely concentrate on the environmental strategy level but also enhance green collaboration within the organization and among supply chain partners (Wang et al. , 2023a).…”

Considering the diverse aspects of sustainable performance, managers should not solely concentrate on the environmental strategy level but also enhance green collaboration within the organization and among supply chain partners (Wang et al, 2023a). Furthermore, managers must give due consideration to the government's environmental protection system, as well as the activities and advancements in the market and media (Zhang et al, 2021).…”

“…Ethical firms commit investment to develop sustainability capabilities across supply chains (Chen and Chen, 2019; Wang and Feng, 2022). Supply chain partners respond to the commitment of supply chain leaders by adopting their norms and values and establishing strong intrinsic relationships to exchange complementary and strategic relational resources with them (Wang et al. , 2022).…”

“…In supply chain, there is growing research on the roles of leadership in sustainability practices (Wang and Feng, 2022; Mokhtar et al ., 2019; Jia et al ., 2019; Feng et al ., 2022). Within this growing field of study, empirical research focuses on the impact of supply chain leadership on green supply chain integration (Wang and Feng, 2022; Wang et al. , 2022), supply chain learning and multi-tier supply chain structure (Jia et al ., 2019), reverse supply chain performance (Mokhtar et al ., 2019) and sustainability performance (Burawat, 2019).…”
