“…The results displayed that endothermic peak of MLT was observed at about 116°C, which is due to the melting of MLT, revealing its crystalline structure. Previous studies indicated a remarkable endothermic peak of MLT at 119°C [ 34 ]; this result was basically consistent with the literature results. And there was disappearance of melting endotherm peak of MLT in elastic liposomes; this may be due to the existence of certain interactions in the elastic liposomes, which led to the disappearance of the melting peak and the change of the crystal structure of MLT.…”

“…The IR spectrum of MLT-laden elastic liposomes was greatly similar to the blank elastic liposomes, whereas it was distinctly different from that of the MLT power. The FTIR spectrum of MLT stretching peaks was determined at 3333.59 cm −1 , 1625 cm −1 , and 1210 cm −1 associated with the functional N-H stretch, C=O, and C-N, respectively [ 34 , 35 ]. However, these typical peaks disappeared in the spectrum of the elastic liposomes.…”

“…Electrospraying is a technique used to produce particulate bone graft materials. They have been identified to enable rapid and cost‐effective production of microparticles 135 . Coaxial electrospraying has been used to produce microspheres of poly (lactic‐co‐glycolic acid) (PLGA) loaded with rhBMP‐2 obtaining microspheres with minute diameters 197 .…”

“…These particles have depicted promising osteogenic behavior in vitro. Electrospray microparticles of PCL encapsulated with melatonin hormone exhibited high levels of bone remodeling and new bone formation in vivo 135 …”

“…For melatonin encapsulation, a 3 wt % PCL solution was used, and particles with diameter size of 2.3 ± 0.64 µm were obtained (EE: 73%). These NPs allowed a prolonged release of melatonin for about 8 h. By analyzing in vitro (primary human osteoblasts cells) and in vivo (female Sprague Dawley animals) behavior of grafted materials, Gurler and colleagues identified a remarkable increase in both cell population and bone volume of rats, indicating melatonin-loaded PCL NPs as an optimal electrospray method to improve the therapeutic efficacy of synthetic engraftment [122].…”
