Abstract: Specific receptors on the surface of mammalian cells actively internalize cell‐impermeable ligands by the mechanism of receptor‐mediated endocytosis (RME). This process is critical for the acquisition of nutrients, signal transduction, development, neurotransmission, and cellular homeostasis.
