Endogenous Panophthalmitis and Eye Enucleation Secondary to Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Bacteremia: A Rare Complication of Tunneled Dialysis Catheter Use

Abstract: Catheter-related bloodstream infections are among the lethal complications of central venous catheter use. Patients with end-stage kidney disease use tunneled dialysis catheters (TDC) in the absence of arteriovenous access. We report a case of a patient using a TDC who developed panophthalmitis.
