Endometrial stem cells: the clinical application (a review)

Abstract

This review examines the identification, production, cultivation, clinical application of mesenchymal stem cells isolated from the endometrium in the animal model and in humans. The modern aspects of the etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of Asherman's syndrome are analyzed. The therapy traditionally use for this purpose is insufficient in some cases. One of the possible solutions of the problem is the autotransplantation of cultured mesenchymal stem cells isolated from the endometrium, which not only have the advantage of minimally invasive production, but also provide the best ability for decidual differentiation, so important for realizing the endometrial tissue response to pregnancy. In addition, endometrial mesenchymal stem cells have a number of paracrine effects, such as anti-inflammatory, immunomodulating and antifibrotic, which are so important for pathogenetic treatment of Ascherman's syndrome and makes them even more promising substratum for use in the therapy of this syndrome.
