“…With ESD technology improved, it was used not only for mucous layer tumors but for muscularis propria tumors of the digestive tract and has produced good therapeutic effects. [11][12][13][14] In this process, ESD is used to cut off the mucosa and submucosa layer from the tumor and to peel the tumor from the muscularis propria, which can reduce the risk of perforation. We consider this application a new technology related to ESD-endoscopic submucosal excavation.…”

“…Its feasibility and efficacy have been confirmed in large series of cases with gastric neoplasms . However, reports of the application of ESD to large‐size GISTs are scant and limited to case reports . In recent 2 years, a new endoscopic intervention has also been developed from the ESD technique, namely, submucosal tunnel technique which was first described by Japanese experts .…”

“…13,14 Especially, the emergence of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has made the en bloc resection of lesions arising from submucosal and muscularis propria possible. [15][16][17][18][19] However, only a few data are available for the application of this technique to large-size tumors, [18][19][20] and further evaluation of this new attempt need to be carried out. With the enrichment of experience in ER and low incidence of complications, we have applied the ESD technique to large-size GI lesions.…”

“…Thus, a safe, efficacious, and cost‐effective method for therapeutic resection and histologic diagnosis of esophagogastric SMTs is desirable. Resection of SMTs using endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal resection (ESD) have been previously described . However, these techniques are generally limited to SMTs arising from muscularis mucosa, whereas SMTs arising from muscularis propria have traditionally been resected surgically …”
