Endoscopic endonasal open reduction for fractures of the frontal process of the maxilla

Abstract: Objective This study was performed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of endoscopic endonasal open reduction of fractures of the frontal process of the maxilla (FFPM). Methods We performed a retrospective study of patients who underwent endoscopic endonasal open reduction of FFPM from December 2013 to October 2018. The preoperative assessment included nasal endoscopy, computed tomography imaging, and three-dimensional craniofacial reconstruction. The clinical results were evaluated with a visual analog scale at… Show more

“…Fixation in such cases has to be done with at most care or it may lead to ongoing nasal breathing problem to avoid such complication, greater exposure is needed for better visualization. Endoscopic-assisted approach in open reduction provide an acceptable exposure of fracture with minimal access [7]. Upcoming trend involves minimal invasive rhinoplasty with 3D imaging as it includes no incision, decrease post operative swelling and short recovery by Dr.Dutton.…”

“…Although these procedures are faster than surgery, some drawbacks exist, such as more significant trauma, scars on the face, and a more extended recuperation period. Meng et al (2020) performed fracture reduction using an endoscopic endonasal procedure, a novel surgical technique. It provided good exposure to the FFPM.…”
