Endoscopically assisted bone lid surgery for foreign body removal from the maxillary sinus and maxillary bone

Abstract

BackgroundBone lid surgery (BLS) is commonly used for the removal of foreign bodies from the maxillary sinus.Case presentationImaging tests showed the presence of a foreign body in the maxillary bone, close to the maxillary sinus floor, and in the maxillary sinus. Removal of this foreign body was performed using endoscopically assisted BLS. Rough areas distinctly different from the surrounding bone were detected via endoscopy was removed.ConclusionWe assessed the effectiveness of endoscopically assisted BLS in the removal of foreign bodies from the maxillary sinus and maxillary bone.
