Abstract:We read with great interest the recently published study by Kim et al 1 showing the benefits to colonoscopy performed under endoscopist-directed propofol sedation, also known as nonanesthesiologist-administered propofol sedation (NAAP). In the accompanying editorial, Schoonjans and Tate 2 comment that currently, NAAP is routinely practiced in only a minority of European countries, the largest of which is Germany.
