Mobile Backhauling provides an interface between radio controller and base stations, mostly realized with a physical medium such as optical fibers or microwave radio links. With the huge mobile traffic due to an increase in mobile subscribers as well as deployment of 4G and 5G cellular network technologies, better solutions for capacity and coverage should be provided in order to enhance spectral efficiency. For 4G cellular networks, mobile backhaul networks deal with capacity, availability, deployment cost, and long-distance reaches. In addition, mobile backhaul networks based on the 5G network incurs additional challenges that include 1 ms or less ultralow latency time requirements and ultra-dense nature of the network capabilities. Therefore, for 5G technologies, latency delay, QoS, packet efficiency, noise suppression, and mitigation techniques, efficient modulation schemes, and packet network timing synchronization are some aspects that are to be dealt with while designing efficient backhaul approaches (wired/wireless). Current backhaul systems typically use cost-effective solutions (eg,-Wi-Fi and WiMAX)-based packet-switched technologies, especially Ethernet/Internet technologies and high-speed optical fiber links.

The evolution of the technology 5G has influenced the Internet of the Things (IoT) according to the wireless communications of minor latency, and major speed compared to the existing technologies. Consequently, from the 21st century, 5G will act as the spinal column of the IoT and will level the way for the design and deployment of a Smart City, nevertheless, this progress has a negative point which is demonstrated in the energy consumption. The target of this investigation is to announce methods to reduce the consumption of energy in one Smart City based on the IoT and the technology 5G. The results obtained in this investigation allow determining that 5G and the IoT will have a major energy consumption with about 80 % of the entire potency, due to the transmission and reception of a big quantity of information in a Smart City. Likewise, this research, contributes to the knowledge, presenting a review of methods that allow minimizing energy consumption and projects that improve energy efficiency.

Summary The International Telecommunications Union defines in its IMT‐2020 recommendations three types of use of 5G services: mMTC (massive Machine‐type Communications), eMBB (enhanced Mobile Broadband), and uRLLC (ultra‐Reliable Low Latency Communications). The mMTC service allows a considerable number of machines and devices to communicate while guaranteeing a good quality of service. The eMBB service allows very high data throughput, even at the cell border. The uRLLC service is used for ultra‐reliable communication for critical needs requiring very low latency. These services are provided separately in a given cell. However, the number of connected objects is starting to increase rapidly as well as the bit rates and energy consumption. The 5G network must make it possible to provide access to a vast number of users of its different service categories. Call admission control (CAC) techniques focus more on availability in terms of bit rate and coverage. In this article, we suggest an algorithm for modeling CAC in an area served by the three categories of services in a 5G access network, mainly based on minimum energy consumption. This technique will allow connected objects that consume low energy to connect to the network with an adequate quality of service and enable the development of the Internet of Things.
