Energy Efficient Resource Allocation in Hybrid Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Systems

Abstract: By blending the concepts of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), in this paper a novel hybrid scheme is conceived for supporting diverse services in future wireless systems. Motivating to maximize energy efficiency (EE), the joint resource management of user clustering (UC) and power allocation is investigated for the downlink hybrid NOMA systems. Under two different power consumption cases, the optimal resource allocation (Opt-RA) algorithm is developed … Show more

“…As a result, an exhaustive search method would be required to solve this problem. To solve the problem efficiently, we need to decouple the subcarrier allocation and power allocation, similar to the approach in [43]. Hence, Problem P 0 can be reformulated as which indicate that the subcarrier and power allocation are carried out separately.…”

“…Here, the impact of the proposed solution against the densities of small BSs and users is addressed. Further, a practical implementation of a hybrid NOMA network by combining the concepts of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing and a heuristic resource allocation algorithm is proposed which includes a low complexity user clustering mechanism utilizing search and allocation approach [94].…”

“…Moreover, energy efficiency receives significant attention from both academia and industry researches since the information and communication sector consumes 5% of the total global energy consumption [10]. Hence, many researchers have concentrated on energy efficiency in the NOMA system [11][12][13]. An energy-efficient novel power allocation algorithm is presented in [9] where the optimization problem is formulated based on imperfect CSI with outage probability constraints and then it is relaxed to a non-probabilistic problem.…”
