Abstract:The energies and intensities of high energy gamma radiation from thermal neutron capture in an enriched sample of 174Yb have been determined by means of a Ge(Li) pair spectrometer. An internal reactor target has been used. A number of new primary gamma lines corresponding to transitions in 175Yb between the capture state and energy levels up to 2.2 MeV with low K-values have been observed. The neutron separation energy of 175Yb was found to be 5 822.6±0.5 keV.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
