Energy performance and loss analysis of 100 kWp grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic system

Abstract: In the present work, simulation and energy analysis of a grid-tied 100 kWp solar photovoltaic power plant mounted on an institute's building rooftop in Bhopal city of India are carried out. The present study provides insight into the solar power plant's performance linked to the medium range grid under actual operating conditions in Central India. It is observed that the standard performance ratio and the capacity factor of the plant are 80.72% and 19.27% respectively. The average monthly energy produced is hi… Show more

“…In some cases, solar PV efficiency might be lower than CSP efficiency, especially when energy storage is included. For commercially accessible solar PV systems, the energy conversion efficiency generally ranges from 15% to 22% [51]. Depending on the panel quality and regional environmental factors, this efficiency may change.…”

“…e findings provided light on the impact of temperature variations, the sun's location in relation to the Earth's horizon, and the impact of mono-Si vs poly-Si systems. In [17], a grid-tied 100 kWp solar photovoltaic power plant, erected on an institute's building rooftop in Bhopal, India, was simulated and energy analysed. e study sheds light on the performance of solar power plants connected to the medium-term grid in real-world settings in central India.…”

“…A combined visualization of monthly unit/kWp simulated and actual generation has been carried out, considering the methodologies detailed in [43][44][45][46][47] and illustrated in Figure 14. It can be easily visualized that in the summer months, the two seasonal Plant-2 performs better as compared to the fixed tilt plant in both simulation and actual, and it satisfies the design of PV plants on an annual basis.…”
