Energy Sustainability with a Focus on Environmental Perspectives

Abstract: Energy sustainability is a key consideration for anthropogenic activity and the development of societies, and more broadly, civilization. In this article, energy sustainability is described and examined, as are methods and technologies that can help enhance it. As a key component of sustainability, the significance and importance of energy sustainability becomes clear. Requirements to enhance energy sustainability are described, including low environmental and ecological impacts, sustainable energy resources a… Show more

“…The sixth topic concerns sustainable energy consumption. Sustainable energy can be defined as a form of energy that is produced and used with regard to social and environmental requirements [120]. Taking into consideration the growing demand for energy around the world and the fact that energy production and consumption accounts for over two-thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions [121,122], in the time when the consequences of climate change are becoming more common [123], the topic of sustainable energy is extremely timely for discussion.…”

“…Issues related to ecology have in fact been widely studied (Ramachandra et al 2018). Exergy methods have also been used to assess sustainability (Hossain et al 2020;Jawad et al 2016;Rosen 2021;Dincer and Rosen 2021). Both exergy and entropy have been used in assessing management and production systems (Jawad et al 2016).…”

“…The link between access to energy and development has been widely recognised in numerous studies and contexts globally [1]. Energy consumption is highly interconnected with socio-economic development, education, and health and is vital for poverty eradication and socio-economic development [2,3].…”
