ENERsip: M2M-based platform to enable energy efficiency within energy-positive neighbourhoods

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents the main features of the EU R&D project ENERsip. The main objective of this FP7 ICT project is to design, develop, and test an adaptive service-oriented M2M-based platform that enables optimizing, in near real-time, and saving energy by remotely monitoring, controlling and coordinating power generation and consumption within neighborhoods with energy-positive buildings. The paper describes the system architecture designed to meet such requirements, putting special emphasis on the M… Show more

“…3 Two attributes are defined to all the Communications Devices: IP (Internet Protocol) address and ID (16-bits Identifier) [32]. It should be noted that the Proté gé editor allows specifying the type of every attribute, e.g., boolean, integer, double, or string, which is the case for these two attributes.…”

“…10 Many other use cases can be derived from current version of the ontology, illustrating, e.g., the dynamics of different services or the end-to-end addressing solution defined at the application level [32] in large-scale scenarios [40]. The defined ontology will ensure that the defined rules hold in such use cases, avoiding inconsistencies.…”

“…A given CNTR manages a group of ADR EPs, forwarding the data coming from them and routing commands to the appropriate ADR EP(s). Last, the M2M GW (Gateway) has the global picture of the M2M communications infrastructure and works as Operation Support System (OSS), performing tasks such as network inventory, network components configuration, fault management, or service provisioning, as well as communications gateway to the Information System [30].…”

“…It is hybrid, since it is based on different communication technologies, depending on the specific requirements of each communication segment; and it is hierarchical, due to the fact that there are specific devices which manage the communications within each communication segment [12].…”
