Engineering Poly(Methyl Methacrylate)/Fe2O3 Hollow Nanospheres Composite Prepared in Microemulsion System As a Recyclable Adsorbent for Removal of Benzothiophene

Abstract: In this work, we aim to introduce a novel type of PMMA/Fe 2 O 3 hollow nanospheres composite, covering both its synthesis by a microemulsion method that can be grouped into a soft templating category and its niche application. PMMA/Fe 2 O 3 hollow nanospheres composite was fabricated by using a cmbination of O/W microemulsion to prepare polypyrrole (PPy) core and W/O microemulsion to decorate a PMMA shell containing Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles. At the end, the PPy core was removed with several washing to produce ho… Show more

“…Magnetic Field-Assisted Oxidative Desulfurization. Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), because of their outstanding properties that included high magnetic susceptibility, high saturation magnetization, superparamagnetic qualities, low toxicity, and biocompatibility, 175 have been researched in different fields, such as wastewater treatment, 176 cancer therapy, 177 biosensors, 178 medicine, 179 and so on. The magnetic nanoparticles are fabricated from pure metals (Ni, Co, Fe, and some rare earth metals) or a mixture of metals and polymers.…”

“…Another novel hollow sphere nanocomposite of Fe 2 O 3 /PMMA was also prepared by ME method and applied for removal of benzothiophene from a fuel model. [ 98 ] In this unique procedure the hollow sphere nanocomposite fabricated by combination of O/W ME to prepare PPy core and W/O ME to create a shell of PMMA containing Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles. Finally the PPy core was removed by washing to produce hollow sphere structure.…”
