Abstract:Cellulose aerogels are a potential candidate for heat insulation, but one of their drawbacks is high flammability hindering their applications in practice. This study synthesized cellulose aerogels from microfibrillated cellulose fibers (MFC) extracted from discarded pineapple leaves. The procedure started with simply mixing the extracted fibers with polyamide amine-epichlorohydrin (PAE) as a chemical crosslinker and ammonium polyphosphate (APP) (10-20%) as a green and effectively flame-resistant additive, fol… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
