Enhancing the Aspirin Loading and Release Efficiency of Silver Oxide Nanoparticles Using Oleic Acid‐based Bio‐Surfactant from Enteromorpha intestinalis

Abstract: This study is an attempt to improve the loading and release potential of silver oxide nanoparticles (AgO NPs) using Oleic acid based bio-surfactant isolated from Enteromorpha instestinalis. The isolated Oleic acid based bio-surfactant was characterized using GC-MS, NMR, and HPLC. The AgO NPs were then surface-functionalized with the bio-surfactant and analyzed using XRD, HR-TEM/SAED, DLS, UV-Vis, and FTIR spectroscopy to evaluate the loading of aspirin and functional groups responsible for loading. The model d… Show more

“…The supernatants during the loading process were measured directly by HPLC, which indicated the higher drug loading capacity of OA-MSNs than that of MSNs-NH 2 . Such high drug loading capacity of the nanocomposite can be explained by the lipophilic surface of OA grafted MSNs facilitating the adsorption of hydrophobic molecules [ 53 , 54 ]. Moreover, efficient DTX loading in the OA-MSNs was also attributed to the formation of hydrogen bonds between their functional groups [ 55 ].…”

“…Since biosurfactants efficiently create liquid crystals in aqueous solutions, they can be used to produce superior nanomaterials. In addition to silver and iron oxide nanomaterials, biosurfactants assisted gold nanoparticles have also found considerable use in medical and health technologies [104,105]. Additionally, Aminabhavi et al used ultrasonic irradiation to create the nanostructured materials using green sonochemical methods.…”
