Abstract:Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFCs) has drawn widespread research interests due to the low cost, higher energy density (6.08 kWh/kg) and ease in handling of methanol. In DMFCs, methanol is oxidized to CO2 at the anode and oxygen is reduced to water at the cathode to produce electricity. Platinum (Pt) is the state-of-the-art electro catalyst for methanol oxidation reaction (MOR). However, the high cost of Pt, sluggish MOR kinetics and CO poisoning on Pt surface impedes the commercialization of DMFCs. In addition… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
