Abstract:Recently a multidimensional encoding approach to direct stimulation of a single site in the median nerve showed that an intensity and flutter frequency could be perceived and graded. It is unclear whether these two dimensions are able to convey useful information to participants performing control tasks or whether they improve on typical intensity only modulation approach. Eleven participants performed experiments to assess the efficacy of multidimensional stimulation. In a set of discrete matching tasks, part… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
