Enterprise-Oriented IoT Name Service for Agriculture Product Supply Chain Management

Abstract: Internet of Things (IoT) technologies have great potential in protecting safety and quality of agriculture products. Convenient and efficient identification and name service (NS) are the basis of such IoT technologies. An enterprise-oriented name service for the application of the IoT for agriculture products, iotNS, is proposed in this work. The iotNS reduces the complexity of the object name service (ONS) and improves the access efficiency. An IoT application for agriculture products based on the iotNS is de… Show more

“…On the other hand, the IoT is presently the object of significant research as it will be implemented on a large scale within the next decade or so. Presently, several investigations have developed IoT applications for natural disasters [ 34 , 35 ], generalized and specialized industries [ 36 , 37 , 38 ], smart homes [ 39 , 40 , 41 ], medicine [ 42 , 43 , 44 ], agriculture [ 45 , 46 , 47 ], urban planning and intelligent cities [ 48 , 49 , 50 ] and the design of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) [ 51 , 52 , 53 ]. In the fields of ITS and smart cities, allowing vehicles to be interconnected, forming vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), has enormous applications related to safety, internet connectivity, entertainment, file transfer and importantly, the detection and avoidance of dangerous or problematic traffic conditions [ 54 ].…”

“…The Internet of Agricultural Things (AIoT), where the technologies of the Internet of Things are widely used in all of the phases in the agriculture industry, is proposed to resolve the food safety problem. In order to provide a common model to describe and transmit the data in agriculture Internet of Things, [15] proposes a specific ontology, while [16] uses a naming service to identify products.…”

“…Data processing Obviously, choosing a data processing tool depends mostly on the outcome expected from the data. The most common tool for BigData analysis, and what we probably think at first, is Hadoop MapReduce 16 . It has proven its efficiency in many ways and is an incredible tool.…”
