Blade icing can affect wind turbines to generate electricity. In severe cases, 30% of power generation is lost in a year, and safety problems in the vicinity of wind power plants are also caused. Researchers have designed anti-icing and de-icing technologies to reduce these effects, and excellent ice-detecting devices are a prerequisite for using anti-icing and de-icing technologies. Ultrasonic attenuation technology can effectively and reliably detect the presence of ice without affecting the aerodynamic performance of the blade, providing a reliable guarantee for anti-icing and de-icing systems. Deicing and anti-icing systems are divided into active and passive, active heating blades are still the most effective anti-icing and de-icing methods, but their energy consumption is too high. Although there are many existing de-icing methods, there are not many practical uses. This article introduces them separately and lists their advantages and disadvantages. The use of ultrasonic anti-icing and de-icing is an economical and reliable means that has been proven to be used for anti-icing and de-icing of blades. However, under normal circumstances, a single anti-icing de-icing system cannot completely solve the problem of icing of the blades. This paper suggests using both ultrasonic and hydrophobic coatings to cope with more icing conditions. Owing to release a lot of greenhouse gases, chemicals and toxins substances from the combustion of the fossil fuels such as coal and oil, 1 People began to look for renewable energy to provide energy consumption, such as wind energy, 2-4 hydrogen energy, 5-7 solar energy, 8-10 biogas and biomass energy. 11-15 With the wind power growing rapidly, generate electricity by using wind turbines is economical and environmentally friendly. 16 As can be seen in Figure 1, China's total installed capacity of wind turbines in 2016 is much higher than in other countries.China has the largest wind power market in the country, and the installed capacity of wind power is growing steadily year by year. The high density of air is conducive to the development of wind energy resources in cold regions. Figure 2 shows wind resource changes in different seasons. The wind speed from June to August is significantly lower than other months. There are also data showing that wind resources in cold regions are 10% higher than other regions. 17,18

For advection simulation, an improved r‐factor algorithm for total variational diminishing (TVD) schemes is proposed to extend the TVD schemes to non‐uniform unstructured grids. In the new algorithm, the further upwind node (called node U) location is modified based on the size differences of the related grids, that is, the formula of the relationship between two length ratios, LUC/LCD = LCf/LfD, should be maintained to reveal the meaning of r‐factor correctly on non‐uniform unstructured grids. After that, the inverse‐distance weighting average method rather than the Gauss theory method is adopted to estimate the value of node U. Furthermore, the deviations between the value of cell centroids and of their corresponding auxiliary points are exploited to complete the algorithm. The new algorithm is utilized in two pure convection cases, including a double‐step profile and a sinusoidal profile. The algorithm was compared against the Hou's r‐factor algorithm by using Superbee and Van Leer limiters on two‐dimension non‐uniform unstructured grids. The results indicate that a monotonous behavior and a higher accuracy result can be obtained by using the new algorithm.

The 3D Carreau fluid flow through a porous and stretching (shrinking) sheet is examined analytically by taking into account the effects of mass transfer, thermal radiation, and Hall current. The model equations, which consist of coupled partial differential equations (PDEs), are simplified to ordinary differential equations (ODEs) through appropriate similarity relations. The analytical procedure of HAM (homotopy analysis method) is employed to solve the coupled set of ODEs. The functional dependence of the hydromagnetic 3D Carreau fluid flow on the pertinent parameters are displayed through various plots. It is found that the x-component of velocity gradient (f′(η)) enhances with the higher values of the Hall and shrinking parameters (m,ϱ), while it reduces with magnetic parameter and Weissenberg number (M,We). The y-component of fluid velocity (g(η)) rises with the augmenting values of m and M, while it drops with the augmenting viscous nature of the Carreau fluid associated with the varying Weissenberg number. The fluid temperature θ(η) enhances with the increasing values of radiation parameter (Rd) and Dufour number (Du), while it drops with the rising Prandtl number (Pr). The concentration field (ϕ(η)) augments with the rising Soret number (Sr) while drops with the augmenting Schmidt number (Sc). The variation of the skin friction coefficients (Cfx and Cfz), Nusselt number (Nux) and Sherwood number (Shx) with changing values of these governing parameters are described through different tables. The present and previous published results agreement validates the applied analytical procedure.
