Envisioning an Agent-OS for Autonomous Cooperative Systems

Abstract: The Autonomous Cooperative System environment was built as a low priority control task inside programmable logical controllers. It added the functionality of an agent-based operating system. The ACS kernel evolved in this manner for a long time almost independent of the controller operating system. Although ACS has been successfully deployed on commercial controllers, new releases of Logix will cause complications in the integration of the software and adoption of future functionality.
