Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay for Hepatitis B Surface Antigen

Abstract: A solid-phase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), based on the "sandwich" principle with use of microtiter plates, was developed for the detection of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBSAg). Results could be read within one day by the naked eye or by colorimeter. The detection level was less than or equal to 5-10 ng of HBSAg/ml. The sensitivities of ELISA and radioimmunoassay were about the same in dilution series and in a follow-up study of 19 patients with acute hepatitis B infection. In 11 European medic… Show more

“…TNF‐α was evaluated in serum according to the method described by Wolters et al. using a TNF‐α ELISA kit provided by Alpco® Diagnostics Distributer (Mumbai, India), and the concentrations were measured from the standard curve. The TBA reactive substances levels were measured as MDA according to the method of Mihara and Uchiyama, and the concentrations were measured from the standard curve constructed using serial dilution of 1,1,3,3‐tetramethoxypropane.…”

“…ELISA was used to measure TNF‐α level (rat TNF‐α kit, BioSource International Inc., Camarillo, CA). The method utilizes the immunoassay technique 25. Plasma samples were pipetted into rat TNF‐α‐specific antibody coated wells, and second (biotinylated) antibody was added.…”
