EPA Offshore Effluent Guidelines for Mud and Cuttings Discharges: A Regulatory Impact Model

Abstract: Effluent guidelines for discharges of muds and cuttings offshore are under development. The impact of the proposed guidelines is predicted by a model developed as part of the API comments on the 1988 EPA proposal. A preliminary run of this model shows that 25 percent of the drilling wastes will be hauled for onshore disposal, rather than discharged. SPE 1 8 6 8 2
