“…A incidência de LRA em pacientes cirúrgicos é variável de acordo com o tipo e gravidade da cirurgia com relatos de 19% após cirurgias cardíacas, e em torno de 12-13% após cirurgias gerais e torácicas 5 . Em um grande estudo epidemiológico em pacientes submetidos a cirurgias de grande porte e de urgência não cardíacas em UTIs no Brasil, 38% dos pacientes tiveram complicações no pósoperatório e a principal causa de óbito foi disfunção de múltiplos órgãos (DMO) em 53% dos pacientes 13 . Patients undergoing major surgical procedures are constantly admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU), which leads to higher hospital costs 3,4 .
