Abstract: The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) has been identified as an epithelial cell receptor for Mucorales fungi andCandida albicans. Blocking EGFR with small molecule inhibitors reduces disease severity in mouse models of mucormycosis and oropharyngeal candidiasis.
