Equilíbrio estático em pacientes com diabetes melito tipo 2 com ou sem polineuropatia diabética

Abstract: Objectives: To contrast the static balance in patients presenting diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2) with and without polyneuropathy (DPN); and to correlate the rates from the scale Diabetic Neuropathy Examination (DNE) with the mean ratio of the center of pressure (CoP). Subjects and methods:Twenty patients, aged between 40 and 54, presenting DM2 and classified, according to DNE scale, in groups with (n = 10) and without (n = 10) DPN, were compared. Descritores Equilíbrio postural; polineuropatia diabética; diabe… Show more

“…A recent study that used traditional body sway parameters from COG plots includes COG (AP) sway, COG (ML) sway, and COG sway with two 15-second trials of stood upright with feet together as close as possible and with arms crossed over chest in EO and EC [ 30 ]. Force platform measurements (Kistler) [ 17 , 18 , 27 , 29 ] and Wii Balance Board® [ 26 ] were used to evaluate the COP fluctuations to identify postural sway. Some studies also evaluate COP through a static balance test carried out in EO and EC conditions [ 17 , 26 ].…”

“…Therefore, when PN is present and the visual input is absent (eyes closed test), these individuals exhibited an abnormal postural strategy, depicting greater postural instability compared to individuals with diabetes alone. Palma et al (2013) linked the association of the advancement of diabetes with poor instability, thus, the more advanced the condition, the more significant the postural instability will be. In this study, we assessed A-P and M-L sway, along with weight bearing distribution during eight sensory conditions designed to challenge or cancel the different inputs that control balance: vision, vestibular, and proprioception.…”

“…Consequentemente, as intervenções devem ser mais intensas e o acompanhamento, particularmente vigilante para aqueles com A1c> 6,0%, que devem ser considerados de alto risco 8,9 . Padrões de estilo de vida e cuidados médicos também podem ser encontrados nesta diretriz [8][9][10]13,[15][16][17][18][19] .…”
