A quantum neutral particle, constrained to move on a conical surface, is used as a toy model to explore bound states due to both a inverse squared distance potential and a δ-function potential, which appear naturally in the model. These pathological potentials are treated with the self-adjoint extension method which yields the correct boundary condition (not necessarily a null wavefunction) at the origin. We show that the usual boundary condition requiring that the wavefunction vanishes at the origin is arbitrary and drastically reduces the number of bound states if used. The situation studied here is closely related to the problem of a dipole moving in conical space.

We study exclusive nonleptonic two-body Bc → (D (s) , ηc, B (s) )+F decays with F (pseudoscalar or vector meson) factored out in the QCD factorization approach. The nonleptonic decay amplitudes are related to the product of meson decay constants and the form factors for semileptonic Bc decays. As inputs in obtaining the branching ratios for a large set of nonleptonic Bc decays, we use the weak form factors for the semileptonic Bc → (D (s) , ηc, B (s) ) decays in the whole kinematical region and the unmeasured meson decay constants obtained from our previous light-front quark model. We compare our results for the branching ratios with those of other theoretical studies.

A data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment has been analysed to search for $$ {B}_c^{+}\to {D}_{(s)}^{\left(\ast \right)+}{\genfrac{}{}{0pt}{}{\left(\hbox{---} \right)}{D}}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ B c + → D s ∗ + — D ∗ 0 decays. The decays are fully or partially reconstructed, where one or two missing neutral pions or photons from the decay of an excited charm meson are allowed. Upper limits for the branching fractions, normalised to B+ decays to final states with similar topologies, are obtained for sixteen $$ {B}_c^{+} $$ B c + decay modes. For the decay $$ {B}_c^{+}\to {D}_s^{+}{\overline{D}}^0 $$ B c + → D s + D ¯ 0 , an excess with a significance of 3.4 standard deviations is found.
