Erratum: Electron-Phonon Coupling and its Evidence in the Photoemission Spectra of Lead [Phys. Rev. Lett.91, 186406 (2003)]

Abstract: In Fig. 1 of our Letter, the experimentally determined ADC linewidths were analyzed inadequately and the y-axis tick labels were incorrect; the correct Fig. 1 is given below. The conclusions remain unchanged. 20 10 E F =0 binding energy [meV] 70 75 80 85 90 95 100 Γ (2ℑmΣ) [meV] -2 -1 0 1 rel. emission angle [˚] intensity [arb. units] ADC FIG. 1. “…From a linear least-squares fit of the temperature dependence we obtain here λ ≈ 0.7, which would indicate a very strong electron-phonon coupling. This is not far from characteristic values of typical superconducting metals (λ ≈ 1) [41] or C60-systems [42][43][44] where also a characteristic satellite structure was observed. The coupling parameter within the metal substrate, on the other hand, is only of the order of λ ≈ 0.1 [45].…”

“…Many-body effects on the photoemission band dispersion, as e.g. the electron-phonon driven change of the Fermi velocity near E f [12,56], are not discernible on the given energy scale and can be neglected in the present context.…”

“…The angular mode of the analyzer allows to measure a angular range of ±7°simultaneously, which makes it possible to measure the complete dispersion E B (k k ) of the occupied Au(1 1 1) Shockley-state without any sample rotation. The angular resolution of the analyzer has been determined to Dh = 0.3°, the energy resolution, consisting of broadenings from both the light source (He-I) and the analyzer, amounts to DE % 3 meV [55,56]. The base pressure was 5 · 10 À11 mbar, which increases by a factor of 20 during the measurement due to the He leakage from the discharge lamp.…”
