Estimate Accuracy of the Sample Determination Coefficient R2 and R2 for the Multiple Regression Models

Abstract: In this paper, we propose estimating standard errors for R2 and R2 and to construct their confidence intervals, using the usual and “smoothed bootstrap methods”, which are accurate measures. It is shown by ”Monte Carlo experiments” that the smoothed bootstrap standard errors are more accurate estimates of usual bootstrap method. It is also shown that although the usual and smoothed bootstrap 0.95 confidence intervals of R2 do not include the true value of the parent coefficient of determination in some parti… Show more

“…It takes values in the range 0 ÷ 1. Some sources state that the model t is better the closer the R 2 value is to unity, while this is incorrect, because the sheer number of observation data makes the model R 2 value decrease; then the evaluation should be carried out on the basis of other model validation parameters (Mohammad 2020). For the case under study, for example, by analyzing instantaneous emission graphs and CO 2 emission maps.…”

“…Moving on to the multiple correlation test, which focuses on the relationship between the level of social support and student well-being, the coefficient of determination (R-value) and adjusted coefficient of determination are used as measures of goodness-of-fit for multiple linear regression models (Mohammad, 2020). The obtained R-value of 0.884 indicates the significance of social support in influencing student well-being.…”

“…The PLS model was tested with 100 simulations to assess its overall stability and predictive performance (Couture et al, 2016). The effectiveness of the linear fit of the spectral values to the soluble sugar content was evaluated by the R 2 and RMSE, which measure the degree of correlation and deviation between predicted and measured values, respectively (Mohammad, 2020;Karunasingha, 2022). A higher R 2 value closer to 1 and a lower RMSE value closer to 0 indicate better predictive performance of the model (He et al, 2022).…”
