Abstract: It is possible to estimate the palatal length and the palatal width using the two models (formulas) through the measurements of the biporion distance. Because in the literature, there is no consensus, there is a need for standardization when obtaining the linear measurements of the palate.

“…The head and neck are not fixed to allow the patient to easily swallow at the most comfortable position [ 82 ]. Other methods include fixing the head and neck with a head stabilizer [ 84 ] and using two probes to evaluate the lateral pharyngeal wall motion [ 83 ].…”

“…The inferior margin of the cricoid cartilage is used as the orientation point; the probe is directed longitudinally from the left toward the esophagus to obtain an image of the opening of the cervical esophagus located 1 cm closer to the foot from the orientation point [ 85 , 87 ]. Tilting the probe in the sagittal and forehead directions allows the visualization of the esophagus opening [ 84 ]. The function of the esophagus opening in patients with dysphagia can be evaluated by measuring the opening capacity and the duration of esophagus opening depending on the food consumed [ 85 , 86 ] ( Figure 12 ).…”
