Etude du traitement à la L-dopa et de ses effets collatéraux principaux chez les sujets âgés

Abstract

The results of the use of L-dopa in patients with Parkinson’s disease admitted to a geriatric rehabilitation centre are presented. There was an improvement in the general performance and particularly in the depressive state accompanying the disease. Our observations on the side-effects confirm the difference between these and the toxic effects particularly of the organic type of mental confusion, especially serious when observed in the course of acute infective episode: this required the dose of L-dopa to be reduced. Mental changes of a different type have been found only in patients with a previous mental history.
