EUCAST expert rules in antimicrobial susceptibility testing

Abstract: EUCAST expert rules have been developed to assist clinical microbiologists and describe actions to be taken in response to specific antimicrobial susceptibility test results. They include recommendations on reporting, such as inferring susceptibility to other agents from results with one, suppression of results that may be inappropriate, and editing of results from susceptible to intermediate or resistant or from intermediate to resistant on the basis of an inferred resistance mechanism. They are based on curr… Show more

“…Furthermore, few clinical laboratories routinely perform supplemental testing to differentiate CP from non-CP isolates, as this is not required by either the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) or the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) for routine patient care, provided laboratories are using updated carbapenem breakpoints. 12,13 Given the critical relationships between identification of CP-CRE, timely initiation of effective antimicrobial therapy and infection control interventions, and patient outcomes, rapid tests for CP-CRE detection are clearly needed. This review will describe progress to date on the development of diagnostic tests to detect CP-CRE, their use and interpretation.…”

“…Для штаммов S. pneumoniae определяли минимальную пода-вляющую концентрацию (МПК) пенициллина и амок-сициллина методом Е-теста. Чувствительными считали изоляты с МПК р 0,6 мкг/мл, нечувствительными к пени-циллину -штаммы с МПК у 0,6 мкг/мл [28].…”
