Euthanasia of dogs as control of Visceral Leishmaniasis: brazilian law from a technical and ethical-moral view

Abstract: Dogs participate in the maintenance of leishmaniasis as a reservoir in urban areas. The Visceral Leishmaniasis Surveillance and Control Program (PVCLV) of the Ministry of Health determines the euthanasia of seroactive dogs. The human-animal relationship has become closer to the point that zoonoses are gaining greater attention from health services, and the euthanasia of these animals has an impact on the multispecies family.
