Evacuation simulation with consideration of obstacle removal and using game theory

Abstract: In this paper, we integrate a cellular automaton model with game theory to simulate crowd evacuation from a room with consideration of obstacle removal. The room has one or more exits, one of which is blocked by obstacles. The obstacles at the exit can be removed by volunteers. We investigate the cooperative and defective behaviors of pedestrians during evacuation. The yielder game and volunteer's dilemma game are employed to resolve interpedestrian conflict. An anticipation floor field is proposed to guide th… Show more

“…In the future, we would like to explore efficient ways to perform obstacle removal in crowd evacuation so that evacuees can escape from blocked regions. 27 The current method uses one policy for one skill. We would like to train one single policy for all the skills by incorporating one-hot vector representation.…”

“…Many scholars carried out research on pedestrian evacuation path selection. Lin and Wong proposed an evacuation simulation scheme which integrates a CA model with game theory to simulate crowd evacuation from a room with consideration of obstacle removal ( 22 ). The scheme enables pedestrians to effectively avoid obstacles but does not consider the influence of the size and shape of the obstacle on the evacuation efficiency of the algorithm.…”
