The number of traffic accidents because of distracted driving is increasing rapidly worldwide. Hence, the main objective of the present study is to review the effects of different distracting factors on driving performance indicators. Distracting factors considered in this study are roadside advertisements (billboards), mobile use, in-built vehicle systems, and sleepiness; and driving performance indicators are lane deviation, reaction time, and speed variation. Studies from existing literature reveal that all the distracting factors distract drivers from forwarding roadways in many ways. The location and content displayed on the billboard and the use of mobile phones increase reaction time. However, the former decreases the driver’s ability to control the vehicle, and the latter increases the speed variation and reduces lane-keeping capacity. Lateral vehicle control and reaction time are compromised when drivers engage in searching for songs or videos on music players. When sleepiness occurs, drivers exhibit a higher standard deviation of speed and a decreased headway distance. Nevertheless, most of the studies in this area are carried out in developed countries like the USA and European countries. Therefore, a detailed study and further research in developing countries like India, where activities like installing billboards and mobile phone use are increasing day by day due to the rapid urbanization of major cities in the country, are quite essential. Human error is an insistety action that can reduce the effectiveness, safety, and performance of a system. Human error can be caused by unsafe acts that are the type of errors committed by the subject of the perpetrator due to errors or violations of procedures. This study aims to identify human error in driving based on the type of deviation that is often done by the driver and analyze the influence of age and gender on traffic irregularities. Data collection using Driver Behavior Questionaire (DBQ). There were 325 respondents who filled out the questionnaire, 72.31% of male and 27.69% of female respondents with an age range between 18 to 65 years. The questions in the questionnaire were compiled based on the group of deviations made by the driver, there are four types of wrong habits in driving, namely errors, lapse, violations, violation, and aggresive violations. Lapse is an error that frequent committed by the driver. The adolescent group committed higher offences than the adult and middle age groups for all types of traffic irregularities. The male were significantly more likely to commit violation (a=0.00) and aggresive violations (a=0.014) than female. Both types of violations conscious committed by the driver to achieve a specific goal.

Maintaining driver attention is critical in multimodal urban spaces where risks to vulnerable users are not borne by the drivers that impose them. However, without an understanding of what it is within the built environment that elicits appropriate driver attention, it will be difficult to reduce the escalating tide of pedestrian fatalities we currently are experiencing. This study uses eye glance data from a naturalistic driving study tabulated for on-task vs. off-task driving and detailed tabulations of environmental variables to identify which features within the built environment have a significant impact on driver attention. An econometric utility model was generated that identified corridor pavement width, reduced drivewayspacing, and linearly aligned street trees as design features that have a positive impact on driver attention.One-way streets, undelineated parking or unstriped bicycle lanes reduce drivers need to attend. Recommendations for maintaining driver attention within urban spaces are included.
