Evaluating the Capacitive Response in Metal Halide Perovskite Solar Cells

Abstract: The perovskites solar cells (PSCs) is composed of multifaceted device architecture and involve complex charge extraction (both electronic and ionic), this makes the task demanding to unlock the origin of the different physical process that occurs in a PSC. The capacitance in PSCs depends on several external perturbations including frequency, illumination, temperature, applied bias, and importantly on the interface modification of perovskites/charge selective contact. Arguably, different features including inte… Show more

“…The opposite is true if we apply a positive voltage at the gold contact, Figure 4B. The capacitive and inductive effects of these ions at the interfaces can be monitored by IS (Guerrero et al, 2021;Berruet et al, 2022;Taukeer Khan et al, 2022) as discussed in the latter sections.…”

“…IS has been extensively applied to halide perovskites in the last decade and the matter has been extensively reviewed. [ 29,40 ] The distinct types of capacitance present in halide perovskites have been well understood [ 41 ] and they will be used below to build the equivalent circuit models.…”

“…Over the past years, EIS has revealed several eccentric behaviors including giant photo‐induced low‐frequency (LF) capacitance, inductive loop at mid‐frequencies, and negative capacitance, however, the origin of these phenomena has still not been conclusively understood. [ 21–23 ] Studies have been devoted to a deeper understanding of these prevailing features, which play important roles in the improvement of the PSCs performance. [ 24–27 ] The low‐frequency negative capacitance and its correlation to slow transients in the injection current have been studied.…”
