Evaluating the Seakeeping Performance of Destroyer-Type Ships in the North Atlantic

Abstract: A technique for the evaluation of the seakeeping performance of destroyer-type ships is presented and applied to four radically different hypothetical ship designs. The procedure involves first the determination of the responses of the four ships to realistic North Atlantic sea spectra, using linear superposition techniques, and assuming the vessels are in short-crested, irregular head seas.
