Evaluation of Dose Related Structural Changes in Sodium-Valproate-Induced Hepatotoxicity and a Possible Protective Role of Vitamin E in Adult Albino Rats
Abstract:Background: Sodium valproate (SV) is a widely administered antiepileptic drug, although hepatotoxicity is a side effect. Vitamin E (vit. E) being a potent antioxidant agent and essential fat-soluble nutrient that can dramatically decreased this hepatotoxic effect.
Aim of the Work:To investigate the histopathological and ultrastructural changes caused by different doses of SV, observe their correlations with liver biomarker levels and assess the defensive role of vit. E against SV-hepatotoxicity. Methods: Sixty… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
