Evaluation of Moringa oleifera (L) Aqueous Seed Extracts on Aphrodisiac, ‎Gonadal and Epididymal Sperm Reserves of Wistar Rats

Abstract: This study was designed to evaluate the effects of Moringa oleifera (L) aqueous seed extract on aphrodisiac, gonadal and epididymal sperm reserves of Wistar rats. Twenty-five male and fifteen female Wistar rats aged two months weighing 150 – 200 g were purchased and housed in cages at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. “…Where showed [16][17][18] that Moringa leaves are rich in protein, in which amino acids are similar to those found in soybeans, as well as essential vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, iron, copper, manganese, zinc, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, alpha-tocopherol, but they contain a high percentage of fiber [19]. Moringa seeds are characterized by containing effective plant compounds such as alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, reducing sugars, steroids, saponins and tannins [20] in addition to their high content of proteins, minerals and vitamins [21].
