Evaluation of Some Advanced Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Lines for Agronomic Traits Under Kırklareli and Tekirdağ Conditions

Abstract: This study was carried out to determine grain yield and yield components of five bread wheat genotypes and 20 advanced lines at Kırklareli and Tekirdağ locations in 2017-2018 cropping year. The experiments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. In the study, grain yield (GY), plant height (PH), spike length (SL), number of spikelets/spike (SS), number of grains/spike (KS), grain weight/spike (KWS), test weight (TW) and thousand kernel weight (TKW) were investigated. Bread w… Show more

“…(2017) found yield values in the range of 2905 to 3722 kg ha −1 in Yozgat conditions. Tekin (2011) reported yield values in Adana conditions between 4290 and 5500 kg ha −1 , whereas Gungor and Dumlupınar (2019) found yield values in the range of 5150 to 7900 kg ha −1 in Bolu. The reason why the wheat yield in Yozgat conditions was lower than the results of this study and those of other researchers can be that the annual rainfall in Yozgat is usually lower than those in Bolu and Kahramanmaras.…”

“…Since wheat is of great importance in human nutrition worldwide, one of the most important targets of wheat breeders is to increase the grain yield (GY) obtained per unit area (Aktas, 2016;Barutcular et al, 2017;Yildirim et al, 2018;Kizilgeci et al, 2019a). Optimizing agronomic applications and developing varieties with high yield capacity are two main factors in increasing GY (Aktas, 2016;Güngör and Dumlupınar, 2019;Yüce et al, 2022). Different statistical methods are used in the evaluation of genotypes according to the data obtained in breeding programs.…”

“…The average yield of bread wheat production at the Thrace region (496 kg da -1 ) was 1.89 times higher than the average yield of bread wheat production (262 kg da -1 ) countrywide (TUIK, 2022). In order to increase the yield per unit area in wheat production, it is necessary to develop varieties with high yielding potential, suitable for the conditions of the region where production will be made and bring them into production (Gungor et al, 2022a(Gungor et al, , 2022b. Other factors affecting grain yield in wheat cultivation are good quality seeds, the number of seeds to be utilized per unit area, sowing time and method, fertilization and cultivation practices (Bayramoglu and Gundogmus, 2010).…”
